If you’re old school and still use incandescent lights to illuminate your swimming pool, I think it’s high time you upgraded and installed LED pool lighting. In the past few years, LEDs have come a long way and they are definitely changing the face of swimming pool lighting everywhere. Installing LED pool lights will bring you more benefits than you might’ve expected. Here are just some of them.

    Durable

Your typical incandescent light has a lifespan of around a year. However, swimming pool LED lights to produce the same amount of light while using much less energy. Plus, LEDs have a useful life of 15 to 20 years. For example, a 50,000 hour rated LED light will last you 50 times more than an incandescent one with the same wattage, output, brightness – everything.

    Economical

Swimming pool LED lights are a smart investment. They may be more expensive to purchase initially, but once you start using LEDs you will save more money in the long run. For the same amount of energy that other light bulbs use, swimming pool LED lights can output a brighter light. And make sure not to miss out on even more savings from rebates. Depending on the area you live in your local or state government might offer cash rebates for upgrading to energy-efficient lighting.

    Brighter

Remember when I said that an LED light uses the same amount of power for the same light output or even a greater one. Well, a perfect example is lights that have a lumen output between 1400 – 1750. A regular light bulb will consume 100 watts to achieve this level of brightness while a LED light will only need about 15 or 20 watts and it can even get brighter. There are cases in which a 20-watt LED light can generate the same amount of brightness as a 200-watt incandescent one.

    Green

Since LED lights operate using semiconductors to move around electrons the amount of heat they emit is almost non-existent and unlike incandescent bulbs, they don’t waste any of their energy. Therefore, by using LED lights you will do your part in helping to preserve natural resources.

    Colour Options

Making a light show in your pool has never been easier than it is with LEDs as thanks to them you can do this with the press of a button. You can get lights that come with a remote control that lets you set the colour to any shade you want and some smart LED bulbs which can be controlled via an app on your phone.
