Just because you live in a pint-sized apartment it doesn’t mean you have to live with a pint-sized decor. Beside being economic and cute, small flats can offer you a serious source of inspiration and you’ll see how much you can do with so little space. The most important thing about small space apartments though is that they are not overcrowded. The less the better is the slogan you should remember when decorating your small home.

I have to tell you, although there is no such thing as a secret magical formula, there are few keys for a successful space maximization. One of the ultimate designer’s debate is the color of the walls. Many say that painting your walls with dark colors will make your space look smaller, while other designers don’t agree with this statement. There are many pros and cons for both bright and dark colors when it comes to small homes, so I guess picking a paint color is like choosing a cupcake: you can’t go wrong as long as you pick what you like. But just in case, I present you my personal tips and tricks that helped me in my seemingly eternal quest for the perfect small apartment décor.

Get crafty. Make your space look like a shining jewel box and don’t be afraid of the colors. However, if you choose to be bold and go with darker shades, don’t paint all your walls with the same color. You can paint your main wall dark and give the rest of the walls a bright, warm touch. But I have to be honest with you, being bold comes with a lot of challenges. Don’t forget that we’re humans and we need light in our lives, so before thinking about dark colors, think about your windows. If they are big and give you enough light, there’s nothing to worry about, however if your windows don’t provide you enough sun rays, I’m sorry to break it to you, but you should definitely go with bright colors only.

Get creative. There’s no such thing as a “free space” in small flats. Every corner should be used as a hidden storage and as always, you can rely on the internet because there are so many hacks online that will help you stay organized. Also, having a furniture that has multiple tasks is a great idea for tiny homes. There are many sofas to choose from, but my all time small home favorite sofas are the corner lounge suites, because even though you may think they take a lot of space, they are very very practical. Many of them offer extra storage space and the possibility to change the position of the added seat and that’s very useful for a pint-sized apartment. Corner lounge suits are one of the best multifunctional sofas and the best thing is you can find them in so many colors, sizes, shapes etc.

Be open-minded. In order to make your small living space cozy, you have to be open for new ideas. Take advantage of every meter in the apartment and place your storage shelves, your decorations and utensils in the most unexpected places and that way avoid possible clutter. And don’t forget about the final designer touch! Paintings and flower arrangements will enhance the comfortable environment in your home and will personalize it in the most awesome possible way. It’s true that small apartments don’t offer a lot when it comes to decorating, but if you play it smart you can be the living proof of how creativity makes miracles happen.

Finally, be yourself. Don’t be afraid to experiment when it comes to your home. Just because your bedroom and your living room are joined it doesn’t mean that you won’t have a stylish apartment. Think about what you like and how you like it and the design of your dream home will eventually pop up in your mind. In the end, the size really doesn’t matter, it’s what’s in the inside that truly matters.
