Types of Desks Every Office Should Include
The first thing that any office needs is a few desks. Later on, you might also consider getting some chairs as well or save some money and say that standing is better for your employees health. All kidding aside, if you’ve just bought or rented your first office space, you will have to decide how you will use the room you have at your disposal and plan out the desk location accordingly. Luckily, there are plenty of desks with different dimensions you can choose from that can certainly fit with what you intend to do with your office.
When it comes to picking out the ideal conference tables for your office, the most important thing is to not go too big or too small. If you get one that is too big, it might unnecessarily take up room, which isn’t much of an issue if you have the extra space to spare, but smaller offices or new ones don’t have much of a need for a football field sized table. On the flip side, if you pick out some conference tables that aren’t capable of accommodating the number of personnel you have, the people would have to squeeze in just to sit down. Additionally, it might even affect productivity since everyone will be more concerned about the elbow poking them in the ribs than they will about the topic of the meeting.
Another very important type of desks are the ones that you will use as your employees’ work station. There are a lot of choices that you can go for here, but it would be better if you forego the ones that have the cubicle high walls that feel like they are segregating the employees and making them work alone. A much better option would be the 4 person work desks where the employees will be facing each other and the dividers will only go up to a certain height. This will both separate their workspaces and give them their own area that no one else’s documents or stationary item will spill into, and let them be able to keep eye contact with each other. While the eye contact seems like it would be awkward, if they are all working on the same project it is a very easy way to communicate with each other and be far more in sync when performing the tasks at hand.
The final (and arguably best) type of desk that you might consider for your office is the sit/stand variety. The benefit that these types of desks provide towards both relieving back and leg pains and increasing workplace productivity is well documented so I won’t go on about it much. What I will say is that you should be careful when figuring out how many to get. If only executives get them it might come off as the employees not being important enough for one, but if you want to set up each worker with their own, you will have to dig a bit deeper in your pockets than you would for a normal desk.
